It was all just a very bad dream...

Right now, ER is on Channel Four. I have no TV. P is out this evening. Mum is not answering her phone. So maybe I won't get to see this week's episode. But y'know, I don't think I mind that much. ER, I am so so sorry to say it, has really dropped in quality this series. The script is simply dire. Those of you who know me well will know just how much this pains me.
I texted M about this the other day and he replied, "I have 2 admit i agree. bring back dr green... just like in dallas. it was all just a very bad dream!"

Sounds of the Limousin Vol VI

My good friend MA lives in rural France with his wife A and their dog. I hear from him every so often, and always so well, either in voice on the phone with his quick wit and large laugh, or in parcel form with an intriguing postcard and stupendous CD comp. His latest arrived this week and I'm all ears and eyes! God bless him.

Viaticum

Even though EST's new album Viaticum sounds like some kind of Hungarian medication for impotence, it certainly gets my thumbs up! So to speak.

Clappers, Bruce and Baker will be playing...

...at the Royal Albert Hall in May!!

At 50, 75 and 125 squid a ticket, though...

I think despite M's declaration, "Are you nuts sandy - its CREAM!!!!!! £50 a ticket to see rock history - bargain!", I might hold out for the DVD...

They'll be the size of ANTS, M!! The 50 squid tickets will be for people with extraordinary height and vision!

I've got fever...

Over the past week I've been imprisoned in bed, full of fever, horrible sweats and shivers, completely unable to function. I couldn't speak. I looked terrible. Having food, water, hugs, lemsip and lucozade brought to me has made such a difference... Reminds me once again that I am a very lucky, well-looked after lady! Siiiiigggggggh!

Wilfred Owen is your boyfriend!

My pal Esther is in the news again talking about blogs and academia:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/4194669.stm
I bumped into her at the bus stop the other day. Apparently she gets all kinds of comments on her blog, her favourite being, 'Wilfred Owen is your boyfriend', amongst other constructives such as 'This is crap'. I agreed she should get the former printed on a T-shirt...

High brow leather patched Bloggers wanted!

Apparently Rebunk, a blog hosted on the US History News Network, is looking for bloggers.

We are looking for people who are smart, who write well, and who have a solid background in history or a closely related discipline. You do not have to be a professor or graduate student, though such status would probably be to your benefit. You need to be willing and prepared to contribute on a regular basis and we hope that you can help us to grow our audience.

If you are interested, send an email of inquiry (it can be brief, a paragraph or so) with a copy of your vita and 2-4 sample blog entries to rebunkers@hotmail.com
I don't think I'm beardy enough.

Pleac

Low box set!

What's a girl in need of cheering up supposed to do once she's found out there's a BOX SET of Low B-sides and rareties just begging to be bought??!

And once she's hanging out in the Low section of Play.com, surely she may as well click in the new album, too...

Ooops.

Computer says No

I lost about a day's work on the annual report on Tuesday 'cos my computer didn't want to play... Waaaaaaaa!

gmail gold dust

I've got four gmail invitations left (1GB of email loveliness) - does anyone want one? They're in demand - you can even bid for them on ebay. Leave a comment on this post with your email address and I'll send you one for free. What a generous girl I am!

"Anyone? No? ...Dust."

Home is chaos at the moment: I've had to move out of my room so the walls can be replastered. I've been hanging out in P's lovely tidy flat with his large CD collection, cool guitars and TV! (Having not had a TV for more than two years now, it's a very exciting prospect! Oh, and not forgetting that New ER is on tonight!!) I'm back at home now, trying to work (so blogging, of course), sitting in J's room (with all my stuff scattered all over the place) with very loud banging going on in the house. I may just have to leave again...

We could hear it, but we just couldn't see it...

Oh, and a very Happy New Year/Bonne Année, everyone! I enjoyed being by the river in East London listening to the wildly varying countdowns and cheers to midnight and also feeling like the best fireworks display in the world, ever, was happening on the other side of the city. We could hear it, but we just couldn't see it... It all felt like a depressing metaphor for my own life, really... (just kidding!)

It was all happening elsewhere...

Many many thanks to L, S and N for a spectacular three-course dinner and brilliant company, and to Lucy for the drool (gibber), Bea (aka Beastie) and Cat. Special thanks to M for lending his keys and leaving beers, square crisps and the one remote control to rule them all. Thanks to A for good company and laughs as always, even during what he appropriately describes as a "time of crapness". Next year can only be better! Thanks to all for the lovely SMS messages - 'Gutis niuis jahr from Munchen!' just past 11pm from the enviable M was the only one that got through within the hour - everyone else's came through much later in the evening while I was dosing through Wayne's World...

Who'd buy any of this crap?

January sales. Healthy leisure pursuits seem to be few and far between in the Croydon land (am I just not trying hard enough?). I think we have visited pretty much all the large shopping centres in the vicinity now and the novelty has long since worn off. I have wandered glazed-eyed through shiny, fountained indoor malls, soaked myself in expensive and pungent perfume, contemplated murdering my fellow shoppers, and had a good feel of the wigs in Allders.

"I'm looking for a pirate memory game..."

Wigs

But it's all been worth it to find that very special purchase that comes perfectly packaged in the form of a box set...

I note that D.E.A.F. P.R.A.T. has also been to HMV:
